If you plan to breed dogs or cats, you need a Breeder's Permit as per the City of Amarillo's Ordinance (Sec. 8-2-16).

How to Obtain

  • Contact Animal Management & Welfare for the application
  • Submit completed application to the Animal Management & Welfare Department
  • Pay an $100 annual fee
  • Applicant must notify the department of any changes during the permit period

Possible Revocation

The permit may be revoked for reasons like disturbances, unsanitary conditions, bites, or violations.

Appeals

You can appeal decisions to the City of Amarillo City Manager within ten working days.
