• Dogs and cats over three months must have a rabies vaccine — required by law
• Follow Texas Department of Health vaccination schedules
• Ensure your pet wears the current rabies vaccination tag issued
• Miniature pigs must be vaccinated for erysipelas at one-year intervals

Signs of Heatstroke          

·Body Temperature of 106 –110 Degrees

·Staggering, Dizziness, or Seizures

·Bright Red Tongue and Gums

·Bloody Diarrhea and/or Vomiting

·Rapid Heartbeat

·Excessive Panting

·Sticky and Dry Tongue and Gums

Heatstroke Prevention

Do

• DO move your pet to a shady and/or cool area
• DO determine your pet’s temperature and record it regularly
• DO cool your pet by wetting them with cool, NOT COLD, water and place them in front of a fan
• DO get your pet to the nearest veterinary hospital immediately
  • SECONDS COUNT

Absolutely DO NOT

• DO NOT use very cold water or ice to cool your pet
• DO NOT over-cool your pet
• DO NOT force water down your pet’s throat
• DO NOT leave your pet alone
